Any russian strike on Brussels will be regarded as an attack on NATO and will be met with a devastating response.
Belgian Defense Minister Theo Francken has stated this in an interview with De Morgen. Ukrainian News informs.
Answering the journalists' question whether he was afraid of a possible launch of a non-nuclear missile at the Belgian capital, Francken denied it.
"No. Because that would be a blow to the heart of NATO, and in that case we would just level Moscow to the ground," he said.
At the same time, he noted that he considers such a scenario unlikely. Instead, according to the minister, the bigger threat is "hybrid" actions, such as the appearance of "little green men" and inciting unrest among the russian-speaking population in the Baltic states.
"Before you know it, they may try to annex a part of Estonia," Francken said.
In response, the russian embassy in Belgium called the minister's words "provocative" and "irresponsible," accusing European politicians of "militarist frenzy."
Meanwhile, Belgium blocked the EU initiative to allocate EUR 140 billion to Ukraine in the format of a so-called "reparations loan", which was planned to be financed from the proceeds of frozen russian assets.
