Trump calls on russia and Ukraine for 30-day ceasefire and threatens consequences for violators

US President Donald Trump, in a post on the Truth Social platform, made a new call for a complete ceasefire between russia and Ukraine for 30 days, emphasizing that violating the agreements will have consequences. Ukrainian News informs.

"The US calls for, ideally, a 30-day unconditional ceasefire. Hopefully, an acceptable ceasefire will be observed, and both countries will be held accountable for respecting the sanctity of these direct negotiations," Trump said.

According to him, consultations with the participation of Washington are ongoing, and in the event of a breakdown of the ceasefire, the United States, together with its partners, are ready to take sanctions measures: "If the ceasefire is not respected, the US and its partners will impose further sanctions."

Trump stressed the need to stop the loss of life: "Thousands of young soldiers are dying on a weekly basis, and everybody should want it to STOP."

"As president, I remain committed to ensuring peace between Russia and Ukraine, together with the Europeans, and this will be a strong peace!" Trump emphasized.

He also said that he considers the ceasefire to be the first step towards a further settlement: "It can all be done very quickly, and I will be available on a moment's notice if my services are needed."

Recall, Ukraine supported the US proposal for a complete ceasefire, but moscow is publicly avoiding clear agreement, putting forward additional conditions. Previously, the kremlin initiated short so-called "Easter" and "parade" truces, but it itself violated them.

As the Ukrainian News agency earlier reported, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the parade in moscow on May 9 a parade of cynicism.

Zelenskyy called the initiative of the leader of the aggressor country, russia, vladimir putin, to declare a three-day ceasefire from May 8 to 10 a theatrical production to create an atmosphere for russia to emerge from isolation, and instead insists on a 30-day ceasefire in accordance with the strategy proposed by the United States.
