Search and rescue operation is completed in Chernihiv: 18 people are killed, 78 wounded


A Russian missile strike on Chernihiv on 17 April killed 18 people and injured 78. This was reported by the head of the Chernihiv Regional Military District Administration Vyacheslav Chaus, Censor.NET reports.


"The search and rescue operation has been completed. 18 dead, 78 wounded as a result of the enemy's attack. 37 people are undergoing inpatient treatment," the statement said.


All necessary assistance is provided at local healthcare facilities, and the necessary medicines are provided, he added.


18 April is declared a Day of Mourning in Chernihiv for those killed in the Russian missile strikes on 17 April.


Missile attack on Chernihiv on 17 April

Russia shelled Chernihiv at around 9:00 am. The head of the Chernihiv Regional Military Administration, Vyacheslav Chaus, said that "the enemy launched three missile strikes almost in the centre of the city".


The Chernihiv Regional Blood Centre asks people to come and donate blood for the wounded, "especially negative Rh".
